2 ovens on same breaker

November 19th, 2009

HI,

I have a co-worker that went to do some work on someone’s rental house. I was helping him troubleshoot a bad breaker on the oven. It looks like the landlord wired 2 ranges/ovens on a 40A double pole breaker. When we looked at it, the 240V outlet for the other range was piggy-backed off of the existing range/oven outlet. Is this acceptable? I was under the impression that each oven/range needed its own breaker.

Thanks,

That is not a safe methold to do this.

For the rental place genrally landlord will only change something simple but more than that i rather have a electrician to come in and deal with that.

There are some code issue it will come up with it.

All the range will have it own circuit for wall oven useally on it own circuit but IIRC there is a specal cause have countertop range and wall oven can i say ” can ” be used together on the same circuit.
