Air pressure tank for well coming on every 10mins?

November 19th, 2009

Hey hope someone can help.
What’s happening is our air pressure tank for our well is kicking on way to often. A plumber put air in the tank that wasn’t it and there was no water in the tank so we assume it is not the bladder of the tank. We now have dug up our well and had a plumber change the foot valve (today). Tonight we noticed it coming back on still. The plumber says there may be air pockets and will come back tomorrow. Just in case I need more options because if not he said he may not be sure what it is. We have also thought there may be a leak underground in pipes, but we dug up the lawn and dirt is as dry as a bone. We also turned water off to inside to make sure leak was not in the house and the pressure on the tank still continues to fall. Anyone please help.

You could have a small leak on the pipe that is in your well prior to the foot valve and you will never see the leak because it only leaks in the well, this small leak will cause your problem. I change out the pipe from the foot valve to the pit less adapter which solves the short cycling you are noticing.
