Bad pipe
I discovered a leak in a pipe under my kitchen sink yesterday. There are three pipes (looks like a crows foot) coming out of the concrete floor for the cold side and they are all tied together. One is supply, one goes to the sink. and one goes to something else. The one going to the sink has a pin hole just above the floor. I Did some careful chiseling to get to some good pipe to fix it. The deeper I go, the more holes I find.I’m down about 5 inches below the floor. Looks like I have to go below the concrete to find good pipe. The pipe is pitted really bad from the inside. I think the concrete was the only thing holding this pipe together. So, My concern here is electrolysis. I looked around outside and noticed that the main water supply line is PVC. On the other side of the house is a spicket, but it is not grounded. My meter is grounded to a grounding rod and I was thinking about grounding that spicket to the same rod. Will this help. The other pipes look ok for now. Hope its not to late. House was built in 1978 if that matters.
Cement and copper do not play well together and that is probably your problem. Copper should be covered when penetrating any type of cement.
