Evergreen tree removal and lawn

October 18th, 2009

Just took down evergreen tree that was a derivative of a pine type family, not sure what it actually was but it had pine like branches.
After taking it down, and limbing it for disposal, I have a lot of chain saw cuttings in the grass. I intend to use my lawn mower on the lowest safe setting(c) to try to remove as much as I can.
What can I put down on the lawn to counteract any possible effects of the residuals on the lawn. Lime, fertilizer, any ideas?

Not sure what “residuals” you are referring to, but if you mean the needles, chips, etc. they shouldn’t pose a problem. Now they are more acid than normal, but since the tree has been living in the same place for years and depositing it’s needles there, the soil is already accustomed to the acidity. Sweetening it with a little lime won’t hurt at all. Fertilizer, probably not at this time of year.
