fridge top ok,btm freezing

January 7th, 2010

Have a Maytag sxs. On the fridge side, my top shelf is about 38 – 40dg. But, stuff in the crispers at the bottom of the fridge are freezing. Temps there are around 30dg. Recently had the defrost timer changed. After that, this problem began. Any idea’s???

Sounds like you may just have to adjust your settings.

The freezer adjustment controls how cold the air gets.
The refer adjustment controls how much cold air gets transfered to the refer.

Hope this makes sense to you. There isn’t really two different settings they just control differant things.

I will be willing to bet if you set your freezer control to 3 and leave the refer where it is. Let it go for 24 hours and than measure the temps again, you may take care of the problem.

You may want to measure the temp in the freezer before doing this, just to have a reference to work from.

I really haven’t worked on to many Side by Sides, but I think the theroy should remain the same.

What gets me is the the differance between the upper and lower temps in the refer.

Can you tell where the air is brought into the refer? Top or Bottom? Does this model have a ice maker in the door?

We can figure this out, hang in there!!!
