GE Fridge PSS25MGNA
No one appreciates clean tile floors more than we do. However at 5:30 am finding yourself ankle deep in water because the freezer has suddendly ceased freezing is somewhat beyond the pale.
Lights are on in both sides, fridge side is cold freezer seems about same temp as fridge side therefore ice and all things previously frozen are melting. Seems like the ice dispensing chute had pushed back some items and the shelf was slightly pushed to the rear.
That made me think that the freezer door may have been ajar, but when this has happened in the past, there would be heavy frost build up (we are in Florida).
I have tried adjusting the temp setting and removing ice drawer to make sure there was good air flow. Some motor is running but I don’t know what kind.
How can I tell if this is a maint issue that we can do or call for service?
You have several motors in the fridge; you need to check each one to make sure they’re running: fan motor in the freezer (close the door switches to get it to run with the door open), condenser fan motor (the hot, dirty one on the bottom, in back), and the compressor (the black ball in back, should feel it vibrating and it should be warm to the touch).
Also, when was the last time the condenser was cleaned out? If you see alot of Rover’s hair stuffed in there, well, I betcha you done found the problem!
