Handyman vanished

November 5th, 2009

Help, I was having a ceiling light fixture and a dimmer switch installed, now i’m left with trying to complete. Here’s what I have on: ceiling wires I have black wires, white wires, a single red wire and a single yellow wire. I do know that from my fixture i have to connect White wire (to ribbed wire on light) and other wire to black, question is– where do yellow and red wires be connected in ceiling box to control dimmer switch?

The red and yellow wires were probably installed in anticipation of additional switching for ceiling fan and light control from one location. If you take the cover plate off the light switch, you will probably see the other ends of the yellow and red with caps on them dead-ended in the box. Be sure you turn off the power to this location before you begin any work on it. Is the light fixture controlled by more than one switch? Let us know and we’ll proceed and get you up and running shortly.
