Helping Friend With Network

November 24th, 2009

so my friend’s dad buisness, the tech guy bailed on them, but they ordered all the cabling and hardware but haev no idea how to set it up. and im wondering how to do this too.

i have maped out the computers and how i would wire it up.

the question is what exacly do i need to do to config each computer?

pretty much what we want to do is access internet like normal.

the server is where we host all of our data. all saved files will be saved there.

we want all computers to be able to print to all printers.

and we want all computers to be able to share files between each other, including macs and pcs

I would suggest hiring someone. You will need to configure the router, and depending on what type of router it is that could be easy or complex. You will also need to join all the computers to the domain, that is, if you already have DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory configured on the domain controller. Not to mention the fact that you are throwing Macs into the mix. You will also need to install all the printers on the domain controller, share them, then get them installed on all the clients. Maybe someone else may want to jump in to try and help you, but with the size of that job it would be really difficult to do through a forum. I can try and help with any issues you may run into during the process, but not “how to set this up.” I hope you understand. Good luck.
