kenmore bottom freeze refrig 596.71003100

December 7th, 2009

Boss is out of town and asked me to head out this customer. He usually handles newer refrig. Customer states freezer is fine but fridge is warm. Anyone know of any problems these units have had. Any damper problems?. Headed out this afternoon and just want to know what to look for first.

As alwaya thanks for help.

There are a few issues with these:

1) check the rear left corner in the bottom of the fridge to make sure the customer doesn’t have something blocking the air return going back down into the freezer. If ok proceede

2) defrost timers are prone for going bad…I have replaced many of them on this style fridge

3) defrost problem in general if you turned the timer and the heater still didn’t come on then dis-assemble and check the heater and the bi-metal they are prone for getting water in them and bursting

4) after checking and taking care of the defrost problem (I can just about guarantee thats whats wrong) make sure to completely thaw out the left side of the evaporator area where the air comes back down from the return….many people just thaw the coils themselves and leave the air return blocked

this should give you the things hat go wrongmost often for the problems you described..good luck
