Kitchen Aid Fridge KSCS25FKSS00 is freezing on the fridge size

We’ve had this fridge for a few years, and it’s always been buggy on the fridge side- getting too cold. Now it’s just ridiculous.
On the middle/lower “cold” setting, a glass of water forms a 1/8″ piece of ice on top after about an hour. We can’t use the crisper or the top shelf, as everything freezes.
there is an air diffuser in the upper left -hand side of the freshfood compartment that controls the amount of air supplied to that side. I believe there are just 1 or 2 1/4″ hex screws to remove the cover to get your eyes on this part. When you expose the diffuser , turn the power off to the unit for 5 minutes then power back up. The diffuser should open and close when power is re-applied.
