KitchenAid Microwave KEMC308KSS0 Door Switch Broken
Question: Is this common? Am I correct?
I have a 6 year old stainless steel KitchenAid Microwave/Oven combo model KEMC308KSS0. A couple of weeks ago the microwave suddenly stopped working and the lcd display shows a “Door” message when you hit the start button. I finally decided to look at it and pulled the unit out far enough to get to the door switches and check the continuity on them. I only see switches on the right side, and there is a plastic part with the cam unit and two switches on it. As the door closes it hits a cam that rotates and depresses both switches. I checked the continuity on both and it appears one of them is defective, since I only see a minor flicker on the needle of my tester when I depress the switch button. WHat is the normal behavior of these switches?
I’m not an electrical engineer, but it seems that I found the problem, but want to get input from any pros out there if this is it, and whether this is a common problem?
YOU ARE CORRECT the switch is bad . commom problem on this microwave and on this one switch in it . replace the switch and please be carefull with the NO AND NC contacts there not allways in the same place(reversed) on the new switch
