Moen Single Handle Shower Drip
Please help. I have replaced an old Moen Single handle shower unit (handle, tub spout, and showerhead). I replaced the trim only, leaving the valves alone. After 2 days it developed a drip from the tub spout. I tightened the screw under the shower handle and it stopped for a while but then reappeared. When I put my ear by it I can hear the water flow. It’s like it’s not staying tight or not aligned properly to stay turned off. I did not have a drip with my old trim. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Might be completely unrelated, or it could be that screwing and unscrewing the trim screws distorted the valve body enough that the old cartridge no longer seals.
You can go to the Moen website for assistance in determining what valve you have, then go get a new Moen brand cartridge (bout $18) at most hardware/big box stores and swap them in 15 min. You will have to turn off the house water or at least the shower supply.
