moving a refrigerator
I am buying a used refrigerator and upright freezer and will need to lay them on their sides or back in order to move them down a steep hill. Will this damage the compressors and if so, other suggestions? Also will they work properly in a garage where the temp goes down to 40 degrees?
Thanks.
If you must lay the fridge down, then let it stand in the upright position for at least 24 hours before connecting it !! This is to make sure all the refrig oil has returned to the compressor sump!!! Also try to secure the compressor while handling, the compressor feet usually have bolt holes in them to compress the springs and immobilize them, They were removed during the installation initially, usually they are 1/2 20 X 1 1/2 Hex machine bolts!!!
Good Luck !!!
