No Continuous Hot Water, Shower Only

January 15th, 2010

I have installed a new tub/shower Faucet.

Its a Delta 1348 Series.

I am not getting continuous hot water through it. when i first turn it on it stays hot for about 60 seconds then turns cold.

however the sink on the same line stays hot.

Could this be associated because of the tankless water heater and the pressure balancing,

I have 2 ideas to throw your way.

1st – Possible defective cartridge.

2nd – You mentioned you are using a tankless water heater.
Is this a tankless coil in a boiler? If so it could be that. The reason it appears OK in the sinks is because they have less water flow through them. The lower water flow is easier for the coil to keep up with. When using the tub/shower, you run more water flow through the coil and because it has a scale build-up on the heat exchanger it just cannot heat the water as fast as needed.
