outlets not working
OK while i was attending a def leppard concert my dad tired to cook something in the microwave blowing a fuse. my mom tired replacing the 15 amp fuse but it would not go in all the way. she tried putting in a 20amp fuse and the box sparked.so when i came home i tried putting in the right size 15 amp fuse. it did not want to go in all the way and once i got it on there was still no power to the outlets. on this 15 amp circuit is a 10,000 BTU window A/C 1100 watt microwave and a tv/vcr combo.theres no way if all 3 are running that the fuse could blow. hasn’t happened before. something else must have happened. removed the cover of the fuse box just looking didn’t see anything wrong. removed the cover to one of the outlets same thing.all wires hooked up everything looks fine. what could be the problem.I’m trying to get a electrician over here to look at it. the fuse box is a 100AMP and is made by general switch CO. E9906 cat.no. 918 poles 3 SN class CLL service equpement number 318612 thats all according to the label inside the door to the box.
I don’t know why the replacement fuses are not fitting properly.
I will tell you that installing fuses or breakers that are larger than the wires capacity is the express route to having the fire department in your front yard.
However, I will tell you that you are trying to do too much with that one circuit. Just the AC or the microwave alone are using most of the circuit capacity by themselves. I am surprised that you are not constantly blowing fuses.
