Phone Wiring

December 1st, 2009

Im trying to install a one line phone jack. There is one line coming in, four wires (red, yellow, green, and black). I tried hooking up each to it’s respective post and the jack wire the same. No dice. Have any info that might help?

today it only takes 2 wires to operate a phone line. the norm is red and green line 1 set and yellow black the second line set. im assuming that you have a phone company terminal box, in this box u will find a block to attach your wires 2. connect the green wire to the green stud and red to the red stud. if u only have 1 phone line just wrap the yellow and black around the phone line leaving it unconnected. now in the jack hook up the green 2 the green and red to the red. if by chance your terminal block has 4 wires u shuld go color 2 color and same in jack.
