Question about tub/shower faucet
November 9th, 2009
I plan to replace the tile surrounding my tub. Currently the tile does not go as high as the faucet so the faucet trim is flush rests on the drywall. I plan to take the tile higher and the faucet will sit out farther by the depth of the mortor and tile. Will the rough in accommodate that or will I have to have a plumber redo it so it sticks out farther?
While it is best to have the valve set at the proper depth, it is possible to install tile past the valve and the cover will slide over the center part with plenty of clearance. If it is a single lever valve, remove the two screws and slide the large plate out and see if one of your tiles will slip past it and allow enough of the stem showing. I think it will.
