Quick Question on Magic Chef stove ignitors

November 12th, 2009

The description says it all. Hooking up a natural gas generator set caused us to shut off the gas at the meter.

Since then, a Magic Chef stove which had been doing just fine no longer even clicks when turning on the burners.

Oven still lights, stove ignitors totally dead. Burners work as always when lit by grill lighter.

Is there a relay or shutoff that would cuase this due to lack of gas pressure or some other reason?

Old sucker,

Model 31FY-2KX

Serial 03C541938874

Color Yellow

Each valve has a switch that sends an opposite potential (neutral or hot) to the spark module that then sends the spark to the igniters. You could have a wire that fell off or a bad component. Usually not all the igniter switches fail at once so you could have a wire off or a bad spark module. This unit will probably have a blue 4 wire module, but it’s location can vary. Follow the wires from the spark igniters back and you will find it. Should have 120VAC from L1 to N when you have a valve turned to Lite. If you do, and not spark heard at all, bad module.
