reformat xp without own xp install disc

i bought a pc that didnt come with a xp cd. its been 2 years and now i wanna reformat it. it has the sticker on it with the activation codes on it. does anyone know if its possible for me to use a mates xp disc but activate it using my owns codes on my stickers.

If it didn’t come with a CD then it more than likely has a recovery partition on it. If you got it from a retail outlet??
