Side-by-Side Conquest won’t cool

November 27th, 2009

Model Number: GD25DIXH202 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 – 10 years

A couple of days ago I noticed a puddle of water in front of my Whirlpool refrigerator. Everything in the freezer was defrosted and the refrigerator was relatively warm. The lights work. I unplugged it, and let it sit with the doors open until today. I cleaned it and plugged it back in. I hear a fan running, but not the compressor. On a periodic basis I hear a click and then another one about 30-60 seconds later. This cycle repeats over and over. I sure hate to get rid of a pretty good refrigerator (especially since I just cleaned it :-) ). Any ideas on where I should begin?

The first thing I would do is replace the start device for the compressor which comes with the complete installation instructions. If it would not help then the compressor itself is bad. In such case it has to be replaced by a certified technician.

The part number for the start device kit is AP3873993
