Slow Drain On New Install Of Laundry Drain

November 9th, 2009

new install of laundry drain. I used 2″ pipe and I have the washer drain teed off of the main drain. When the washer expels the water, it backs up into the laundry sink, then takes a long time to completely drain. This happened the second time we used the washer, so I doubt it is clogged, although with my wife, it is possible. Anyway, when I ran the waste line outside, I had to install about 5 ells, pretty much back to back to “stairstep” out of the house and down below grade. Could there be a problem with this many ells, or could it really be clogged? More info, Wife cleaned up a big, hairy mess earlier and used the utility sink – maybe she did clog it? However, repeated plunging did not help.

well, 2 sugestions. 1)vent everything, especially the laundry waste.2) try and use a street 45 to a regular 45 back to back to make a “long sweep” this will aid in the drainage. and is easier to get a snake through. only use 90’s when going from horizontal to vertical. and make sure that u use drainage fittings only. good luck.
