Kenmore Elite Trio icemaker water flows into ice bucket
I have a Kenmore Elite Trio (bottom freezer) that’s not even 2 years old and I’m already having problem with it. Outside of how the door handles come loose often and have to be retightened with allen screws, I now have a major mechanical problem.
The ice maker is not an in door dispenser. It sits in the freezer, fills a tray, and dumps the ice into the bucket. Mine has started to leak all the water right into the bucket and soon I have an inch thick layer of ice in there. When I first inspected it, I noticed that where the water flows to fill the tray, appeared to be frozen up. I took a hair dryer and melted the ice there and all was well and good again for about a couple hours. I heard a few loads of ice being made, then the next day, solid ice in my bucket again.
For some reason, the plastic trough that the water flows through and into the tray keeps freezing up and clogs the flow, then the water just flows into the bucket. Why is this happening, and how can I stop it?
My model # is 7957756600. I’m not pleased with the problems this fridge is having in less than 2 years.
If water is overflowing the icemaker, it can be two problems. Either the icemaker valve that lets the water in, or the icemaker it’s self has gone bad. Clean up the water/ice overflow, turn off the icemaker, and see if the water continues coming in after that.
