Color pros
Flipping through a stack of paint color chips, it’s hard not to focus on the names: What color is “Carolina Parakeet?” Can you describe the particular shade “Mesmerize” is meant to represent? Could you live with “Warm Muffin” walls?

I have a customer who says he has a leak, down thru the cavity for the stack, every fall for a couple of days when he turns his hydronic heating system on. House is two storeys + basement and the water ends up on the basement bathroom ceiling. Expansion tank is in the basement and there is no expansion tank upstairs. I was working is the house last week and there were no leaks while I was there.
The system, (forced HW?) is closed and if it were the heating system leaking, it would/should leak constantly since it’s under pressure at all times. I’d look elsewhere for the source of the water into the basement ceiling. Sounds more like it’s Plumbing related and a pure coincidence that it happens only when he fires up the heat.

Does anyone know if there is a minimum distance required under the IPC between a DWV stack and the vent for my water heater? I’m venting the water heater through the roof with sheet metal tubes, and there is nothing else using the vent. The main vent for the DWV system runs through the roof about 8″ from that. Is there an issue with either the distance between the pipes themselves or the openings outside?
If you run PVC OVER single wall smokepipe, we used to need to use cast iron over the vent pipe. But you should be using B vent so that should not be the case. I think all you need to worry about is your 2″ clearance from the vent.
Use common sense. If it is a tight enclosure, I probably would run cast iron pipe to be safe. Especially if you have foam core PVC.
