Temperature From Register Question

January 27th, 2010

I was wondering what the temp difference should be coming out of a register that’s closest to to the coil (within 4 ft.) and another register that’s approx. 15 ft. from the coil should be..? Both registers are in my living room. (The register that’s within 4 ft. of the coil blows 57 degrees and the register that’s 15 ft. from the coil only blows 66 degress…). Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Ideally they would both be discharging the temperature. Any difference would represent heat gained (cooling cycle) or lost( heating cycle) in the duct run. That’s why ductwork should be insulated.
