timing chain slack

January 27th, 2010

i have a 72 gmc trunk with a 350 small block.i just changed my timing chain because the old chain had slack and was hitting the cover.so now that i’ve put the new one there seems to be slack in the new one.so what can be done to fix this problem.

Replace the timing gears and chain as a set!

If you mix and match you are just wasting your money.

As for slack there should be very little. It should be almost impossible to install chain and gears without alot of cursing.

After installation rotate eng twice the marks on the timing chain should line up again.
