Unsuccessful toilet flushes
The toilet does not flush everything down. At the end of the flush as the bowl empties there seems to be insufficient thrusting of water to get everything out of the bowl. There’s jus a little gurgle at the end. The tank seems to fill all the way, the water swirls normaly while flushing, but it just does not finish the job. If I hold down the lever until the flush is over the resules are much better. How can I make the flap stay open until all the water is out of the tank without holding down the lever? Any suggestions?
How old is the toilet(usually a date inside the tank), 1.6 or 3+ gal flush??? Your problem is likely a calcium build up in the holes around the rim, the siphon jet at the bottom, and the bowl elbow. CLR(calcium-lime-rust remover) often works to loosen or remove this buildup. But sometimes a coat hanger and screw driver work better to chip away the deposits. Another solution, replace the toilet with a new Kohler Wellworth, about $130 at big box.
