Vacuum Breaker Leak in Moen kitchen faucet

November 21st, 2009

I have an Moen kitchen faucet — Aberdeen model apparently sold prior to 3/1/04 (based on the manufacturer’s information). This is a pull-out kitchen faucet with a separate (single) handle to control the water.

The vacuum breaker — a large Teflon thing inside the spout hub — leaks ever so slightly and water eventually pools onto my kitchen counter top. The water comes out of a set of small hole on the side but near the top of the vacuum breaker.

Is there a way to fix this leak? I have tried turning the VB but this has not affected the flow of the leak at all.

It’s always some debris that will cause a vacuum breaker to leak, you will have to take it apart, clean-it or replace it.
