Washer Stopped Working (Whirlpool)
My washer just stopped working. It is filled with water and I cannot get any cycle to start. I can hear the mortor start but nothing happens. I check the drain pipe and the top to make sure it was making contact to start. What should I do?
Unplug the machine first. Remove drain hose and plug machine away from wall. Remove lower panel and inspect for a belt. If the motor is running there may be a broken belt, etc.
If there is not belt or the existing belt is not broken, may have to remove the agitator to ensure not binding exists and or the parts under agitator are not broken, etc.
May be a broken coupling between the motor and the agitator and or gearbox. Requiring major disassembly of the parts.

Additional Help and Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for additional product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, downloadable repair and or owners manuals, which may be available online.
Search the manufacturers web site for a downloadable version of the owners or service manual. The file will be a pdf file opened with Adobe, which also needs to be downloaded first but worth having once obtained.
Do an online search for the model by brand name or use a search engine web site like goggle etc. This web site also has help info. All of which can be found in the banner above at the top of this page.
Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers.
