What does “Rough-in” mean?
My clawfoot tub supply leans refer to the term “rough in” in the installation instructions. Under the specifications, it says “Rough in 2″ behind waste and overflow.” The installations instructions say “Rough In 1/2″ IPS Female fitting in the floor.”
Google says that it means to do the part of the work that needs to be done before connecting the appliances, but that doesn’t seem to make sense in this context. It sounds more like a noun than a verb. Thanks for any help.
Rough in refers to an area that is to be finished but without the finishing product. The drain line and water supply lines to the tub should be run where they will be when in use but the finished lines and drains are not yet installed to allow for the finishing of the floor and walls before setting the tub and hooking up the water and drain connections.
Is this as clear as mud?? Hope it helps.
