Whirlpool Thin Twin LTG6234AW1
Hey guys, I have a Whirlpool “Thin Twin” LTG6234AW1 (S/N: MD4303167) that is around 13 years old that is currently having multiple intermittent problems during every load. Here are some things that I’ve noticed:
While in the “Regular” wash cycle it will suddenly stop at anytime and will either restart right away, wait a couple of minutes and restart, or not restart. This will happen multiple times through out the entire cycle. If it does not restart, sometimes I can just walk up and touch the Cycle Control Knob and it might restart, but sometimes it will not. If that doesn’t work, I will manually advance the dial to the area that it stopped at and sometimes it will resume from where it left off, but sometimes it will not. (e.g. After it agitates during the “Wash”cycle it may not drain, just stop, or maybe it will start to spin and drain at the same time, when this happens, I will manually turn the dial back to “10″ and allow it to agitate again and than I hope that it will complete the rest of the “Wash” cycle properly this time).
The things I’ve listed below are in no particular order, they’re just things that I’ve noted while watching the machine. PLEASE forgive me if it appears that I’m repeating myself :
Will skip a part or all of a particular function during the “Wash” and/or “Rinse” cycle (e.g. drain or spin). When this happens the dial will sometimes advance while nothing is happening in the tub or sometimes the dial will just remain in the same position and nothing happens.
Spins and drains at the same time. (Was an intermittent issue, but seems to happen all the time now.)
If I manually turn the knob to a particular position (e.g.”Spin”), it may function properly or nothing happens.
Touching the Cycle Control Knob may cause the machine to restart after a sudden stop.
Noise from Cycle Control Knob. (Buzzing, Clicks)
Dial advances while nothing happens during the cycle (Intermittent)
I’m not sure about this one, but I think the Cycle Control Knob seems to be off calibration. I noticed that the tub will start to fill before the dial actually reaches “Rinse”. Also, I believe the washer should start to drain when the dial reaches “Spin” during the “Rinse” cycle, but it will actually drain when the arrow is between “Rinse” and “Spin”.
Length of time for a particular function (agitation, drain, or spin) is shortened or extended. I noticed this when the arrow on the dial was in a position where the washer should be doing something else (e.g. the arrow is pointing to a spot where it usually has started its first drain, but it is still agitating.) I did not time the actual function(s).
What do you guys think? PLEASE
Sounds like it may be a bad Washer Timer
