Will the new pigtail fry my dryer?

November 11th, 2009

I recently purchased a new dryer to replace the previous one that was not working. The old one was plugged into a three prong outlet and had prongs on the cord that looked like the following with two straight prongs and one L-shaped:

The cord on the new dryer I bought had a similar three prongs except all three prongs were straight like as follows:

I bought a new pigtail to match the L-shaped outlet and had no troubles attaching it to the new dryer. When I plug in the new dryer it appears to work. Both dryers are 240V/120V, 60Hz. The only difference is that the old dryer was 28 Amps, while the new dryer is 21 Amps. Is it a problem that the Amps are different or should I be OK running the dryer? Please let me know if you need additional information. Thanks!
