wiring for welding

what type wiring would i need in my garage to be able to do some welding .all i have right now is 12-2 wg. Its just run off a fuse box from a line underground from the house. My son is taking welding classes.
When doing wiring for welders, just follow the manufacturer’s instructions. It will tell you what size breaker and what size wire to use. The calculations are complicated, and the manufacturer has already done them for you, so just use them.
